The track has a Halloween aura despite being released around Christmastime. The vocal sample during the buildup of “Psycho” sounds like a sped up Gregorian chant. It turns into a drum roll that leads into a bloodcurdling scream. From there, “Psycho” is reminiscent of a horror movie theme song backed by unrelenting bass.
Although Garrix is the big name in the song, let's not forget about the other producers on this track. Yellow Claw might be the most popular group in trap music, and Cesqeaux is an impressive up-and-coming producer.
Just a few months ago, GRX collaborated on "Gamer" with Bassjackers. Additionally, Garrix worked with Victor Niglio to put a trap spin on his own track, "Animals." It seems like Garrix really enjoys making trap music, so it will be interesting to see how much he produces under his trap moniker GRX in 2014.

Martin Garrix debuted at #40 on the DJ Mag Top 100, placed “Animals” in a Madden commercial, and signed with Scooter Braun. It’s clear that he was the breakout producer of 2013.
However, no one would have expected Garrix to end his whirlwind year with a trap banger. Under his alias GRX, the 17-year-old collaborated with Yellow Claw and Cesqeaux to release “Psycho” for free.
Who knew the man behind "Wizard" and "Animals" was a trap star?
