BT and iZotope Release BreakTweaker
BT unveiled BreakTweaker, his newest piece of software, today at The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show 2014 in Anaheim, CA. The legendary producer collaborated with iZotope to create an innovative drum sculpting and beat sequencing environment.
BreakTweaker is perfect for any producer who wants to build original and dynamic beats. It can be used with any DAW and MIDI controller. BreakTweaker is powered by three modules, the Sequencer, the Generator, and a futuristic MicroEdit Engine. You can control texture, rhythm, and pitch at the finest resolution available. With BreakTweaker, you can break away from the traditional drum grids that you typically use and actually create complex polyrhythmic beats with unique isorhythm and playback speed settings. Furthermore, you are granted access to more than 2 GB of royalty-free content. This content includes presets, drum samples, and wavetables contributed by some of the top musicians, including BT.
"I've always been intrigued by the way humans perceive rhythm, particularly the threshold point of where the ear perceives rhythm as pitch," describes BT, "The idea of exploring and exploiting this threshold inspired BreakTweaker, a tool where I could finally realize rhythmic possibilities that I once imagined but had never before been able to hear."
This isn't the first time BT and iZotope have worked on a project together. Previously, they collaborated on the wildly successful Stutter Edit, which ended up being used by some of the top EDM producers as well as some of the top pop stars, including Rihanna and Justin Bieber. This time around, iZotope and BT appear to have struck gold on another great piece of music software.
"We are a company that loves to make innovative products, taking the best of the past and forging into the future. We were able to collaborate with BT's forward-thinking vision on BreakTweaker, and we're proud to offer something incredibly unique and brand-new to the world of drum machines," says iZotope Product Manager, Jack Cote.
In addition to unveiling BreakTweaker, BT will emcee the NAAM 29th Annual Technical & Creativity Awards on January 24. BT is quite the celebrity at this year's NAMM Show, and the legendary producer certainly deserves it.
We don't know how much of an impact BreakTweaker will have on music production. However, with the success iZotope and BT have had in the past, we would not be surprised to see their new software utilized by producers across a variety of genres.
