Exclusive Interview: AC Slater Talks New Night Bass Event + Ticket Giveaway

AC Slater brings bass-heavy music to Los Angeles

Night Bass is an upcoming weekly event that will be curated by AC Slater and take place at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles. With Night Bass, AC Slater wants to bring Los Angeles a sound that he's passionate about. “I want to expose people to the music I love. It's good, fun, bass-heavy house music encompassing various styles, including house, UK garage, 2-step, breaks, bassline and much more,” says AC Slater. “I'm ready for a change in American club culture—the next step—and I want to help be a part of it.” With the increased attention that UK garage and other bass-heavy genres have started receiving stateside, Night Bass has the potential to become a popular weekly destination for Southern Californians.

AC Slater has a grand vision for Night Bass. “I would love for it to take off in LA, then be able to take it to other cities and grow it further,” says AC Slater. “Ultimately, I see a Night Bass stage at a huge festival like HARD, Ultra or EDC. In my mind it's more than a party; it's a movement.” The movement already has big backers at its outset. The sponsors for Night Bass are: Dim Mak, Party Like Us (AC Slater's record label), Red Bull Los Angeles, SOL REPUBLIC, Spotify, Thump, and We Are Massiv. However, Dim Mak is the sponsor who has been there from the start. AC Slater told EDM.com, “Back in October, I really started thinking about it. I hit up Dim Mak, and we just got the ball rolling, bounced a million ideas around, worked really really hard on it, and here we are finally about to do the first one!”

If you live in Southern California, Night Bass is an event you should highly consider checking out. It is one of the rare cost-efficient events in an EDM scene where ticket prices keep going up and up. “It [the dance music scene] is healthier than ever, maybe more than the last couple of big booms that happened. I think there's a huge hole in it though for events like Night Bass. Some people can't afford $50 ticket every week. They can come to ours for $5 and still have a blast in a more intimate setting. The scene has its ups and downs; it's all about staying fresh and not losing the plot.” AC Slater has carved out a long-lasting career by staying fresh, and I fully expect Night Bass to become a wildly successful weekly event.
