Cadillac brings in A-Trak to attract younger customers

Cadillac is the latest company to use music from one of our favorite producers in a commercial. A-Trak is behind the decks in the commercial, as he shows off the skills that earned him the DMC Championship at the ripe age of 15. It is clear that his talent as a DJ is what landed him the job as the star of this commercial. Throughout the advertisement for the Cadillac's new Crest and 2015 ATS Coupe, A-Trak mixes various versions of “Brand New Cadillac” together in his own creative way.

The decision to bring in A-Trak as the commercial's star is a great way for Cadillac to potentially engage a younger crowd of potential customers without alienating their older audience. According to MSN, the average age of a Cadillac buyer in 2011 was 57, which was six years older than the average car buyer. With this commercial, Cadillac updates its image by using one of the more talented DJs and producers in dance music, yet they are still catering to their older buyers by asking A-Trak to mix versions of the classic track “Brand New Cadillac.”

This is actually the second time A-Trak starred in a company's marketing campaign. In mid-2013, he was hired by adidas to help promote their brand.

It is still strange to see producers receive attention on a stage this large, but it's definitely something I can get used to.
