Halloween is a gateway to phantasmic music festivals, creating an excuse for over-the-top costumes, freakish performances, and spine-shivering euphonies. Occurring in the heart of fall touring season, October brings spooky electronic shows to epic venues around the globe for unforgettable music experiences. The scene’s favorite artists will create a frightful stir of devilish bass and haunting drops at numerous ghostly gatherings this Halloween holiday. As thrill seekers prepare for festivities under the illuminous October moon, EDM.com has compiled a list of the top ten spooktacular Halloween electronic music festivals.

1. HARD: Day Of The Dead

After taking over California with HARD Summer earlier this year, Day of the Dead (DOTD) is the newest annual Halloween event hosted by Gary Richard (Destructo). The two-day event will be held at Fairplex at Pomona, home to the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. Returning in its third year on November 1 and 2, the stacked line-up will present larger-than-life performances with sounds guaranteed to raise the dead. Headliners include Knife Party, Pretty Lights, Diplo, Bassnectar, Jamie Jones, and many more.

2. 3DM Festival

The world’s first 3D music festival coincides with Halloween on November 1 at 3DM Festival in Rhode Island. Taking music festival experiences to a new magnitude, attendees will immerse their senses with staggering three-dimensional LED lights. Carnage, Datsik, Brillz, and Will Sparks will headline this year's gathering.

3. Nightmare Festival

This massive event is one of the longest running and most well-known Halloween events on the East Coast, comprised of three stages of music and production, camping, theatrical performances, and vendor villages. Held October 31 through November 2 in Baltimore, Maryland, this year will also feature The Haunted Garden, an extravagant interactive Halloween exhibit. Terrifying pathways between stages enchant the night with tunes provided by artists like Jaytech, Liquid Stranger, BT, and Super8 & Tab.

4. Escape: All Hallow's Eve

Insomniac’s fourth annual Halloween music festival returns to Southern California for two dark nights, complete with immersive audio-visual art installations and haunted mazes. Stages include the Slaughterhouse for Mainstage, Ghouls’ GraveYard for Super You&Me, The Chopping Block as the Trance stage, and Cannibals’ TEA Party for ENTER.experience. Escape from Wonderland features a wicked production, demonic dancers, and a spooky scenery that promises for a killer live music experience. Explore this wonderland of horrors October 31 and November 1.

5. BOO!

For the first time in New York, Insomniac presents an exhilarating Halloween party for a striking one-night show. This highly anticipated event will feature Insomniac’s signature over-the-top production and a solid six-artist lineup that will surely startle your senses. This twisted Halloween event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn includes Knife Party, DJ Snake, Tommy Trash, Tchami, Milo & Otis, and Craze.  

6. Freaknight Festival

Discover a nightmarish world of haunting shows at circus-themed FreakNight Festival. The Seattle-based freakshow returns for its 18th ritual, complete with carnival rides, twisted performers and Ringmasters that will lead you through the madness. Thrilling beats will be provided by Kaskade, Tiesto, Alesso, Dillon Francis, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, and Paul van Dyk to name a few. The Freaknight Traveling Circus will take its show on the road at cities in Oregon and Washington from September 24 through October 4.

7. Don’t Stop The Music Festival

Don’t Stop The Music Festival will showcase top talent in electronic, hip-hop, rap and everything in between. The two-day festival will consist of three spooky stages, twelve haunted, terrifying zones, and a full-scale two-story VIP nightclub for those who prefer an intimate scene. The event will be held October 25 and 26 at Hollywood Sports Park in Bellflower, California.

8. Something Wicked

Something Wicked, the largest Halloween electronic music festival in Texas, returns to haunt the Sam Houston Race Park for a devious two-day event. Presented by NightCulture & Disco Donnie Productions, Something Wicked debuts a Beatport Stage to showcase leading artists in the scene, including Zeds Dead, Flosstradamus, Madeon, and Art Department. Others highlights on the roster are Dillon Francis, Bassnectar, and Kaskade. The wild and eerie soundtrack will be performed October 25 and 26.

9. Drumcode Halloween

Awakenings Festival & London Warehouse Events Present Drumcode Halloween party on November 1. Returning in its fifth year, Adam Beyer and his labelmates - Alan Fitzpatrick, Harvey McKay, Joseph Capriati, as well as Joris Voorn, Max Cooper, and others will celebrate this Halloween bash at Tobacco Dock, a Grade I-listed warehouse in London. This spooky soiree is guaranteed to be a dark, techno-thumpin’ night.

10. Cocoon Miami

Experience tricks and treats delivered by the Cocoon Godfather, Sven Vath, at Moore Building in Miami, Florida on Halloween night. After celebrating his 15th season of Cocoon Ibiza, Vath will deliver a special tech-house party alongside Audiofly, Valentino Kanzyani, Martinez, and Roustam. Combining European production standards with powerful experimental dance music, this is a party not to miss if you’re near Miami.
