Steve Angello Plans To Leave Columbia Records
Despite the release of lead single "Wasted Love" a few months ago, there has been little news regarding the release of Steve Angello's upcoming album, Wild Youth. Now, we've finally discovered why. Angello has come up with plans to buy out his recording contract with Columbia Records in order to release his album on his own label, SIZE Records. The decision appears to be due to Angello's dissatisfaction with Columbia's promotion of "Wasted Love", which featured vocals from Temper Trap vocalist Dougy.
While most artists would not be able to simply buy out their recording contract with a major label, Angello consistently ranks as one of the top earning DJs in EDM. SIZE, which boasts releases from movie star/EDM producer Ansolo, Tom Staar, Kryder, and Angello's brother An21, may end up being able to provide Angello with better promotion than Columbia was providing.
An official announcement from Angello has yet to come.
