David Guetta Goes Completely Different Direction In New Song, 'Dangerous'
David Guetta's new song, "Dangerous," featuring Sam Martin, sounds like it could have been pulled from the scrap heap of Daft Punk's recent Random Access Memories album. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's great to hear Guetta take a risk and go a completely new direction with his sound. We would have never expected Guetta to produce a song that has elements of synthpop, funk, and disco. In fact, the second half of the track sounds similar to a "poppier" version of "Get Lucky."
In an interview with Billboard, Guetta said he was planning to go a different direction with his upcoming album, Listen: “All I can say is that it’s completely song-based. There are featured artists of course, but none that you’d expect with me, and really it’s just completely different from anything I’ve done before. That’s why it has taken almost three years. It’s just different. Like I have this record ‘Lovers on the Sun’ that’s out right now and it’s doing amazing, but it’s still comparable to other records I’ve done. This next album has tracks I couldn’t compare to any other record.”
A teaser of "Dangerous" was uploaded to Guetta's earlier today. Listen to it below.
Also, Direct Lyrics put up a full version of the song, which you can listen to below.
This is a good move by Guetta to stay relevant in dance music. He could have continued to make millions by producing mainstream, top 40 dance music, but he's decided to take a risk to try and gain respect from electronic dance music fans. Anything he does is polarizing, so it'll be interesting to see how this pans out for Guetta.
"Dangerous" is now out on iTunes, and Listen will be released on November 24, 2014.
