Staff Picks: 5 Favorite Songs Of The Week Vol. 4

Every week, a staff member of the EDM.com team collects a short list of their favorite tracks that they've been rinsing as of late. This week, our Staff Picks are curated by Tommy Tsao, and he selected a deep combination of tracks and genres that have caught his attention in the last seven days. Vol. 3's picks include CUFF member Shiba San, dirtybird's Kill Frenzy, and some downtempo vibes from Seattle's ODESZA. Here are Tommy's 5 favorite tracks of the last week:

1) Deadmau5 - I Remember (Shiba San Remix)

Due out as a part of deadmau5’s forthcoming 5 years of mau5 album, Shiba San gives a deadmau5 classic his very own bass-heavy twist. While the original was a classic in its own right, Shiba San’s remix lays a fat, groovy bassline on deadmau5’s slow, melodic progressive track to turn it into a timeless house track.

2) Kill Frenzy - Gorilla

The second track off of Kill Frenzy’s debut album TAYLR SWFT, "Gorilla" is classic dirtybird, with a pounding and throbbing bassline and a smooth melody to back it. Sampling Pharoahe Monche’s “Simon Says (Get The Fuck Up),” the master of booty-bouncing house absolutely did not disappoint. Oh and the rest of the album is pretty good too.

3) Pretty Ricky ft. 50 Cent - Grind With Me (SNBRN Remix)

LA-native SNBRN exploded onto the scene this year with his classic sunset-house style, a blend of tropical house and deep house with an eye towards hip-hop. Masterfully blending together Pretty Ricky’s smooth vocals with a beautiful piano rift before dropping into a classic house track with 50 Cent, this SNBRN remix is sure to help catapult the extremely talented producer into the spotlight.

4) Slow Magic - Waited 4 U (ODESZA Remix)

One of the biggest names in future bass, ODESZA, took Slow Magic’s indie track “Waited 4 U” and turned it into a future bass gem. Leaving Slow Magic’s hauntingly beautiful lyrics but giving it just enough of a future bass twist to give it an Odesza spin, this track will only serve to push Odesza further into superstardom after their debut album.

5) Chus & Ceballos - Alarmeon

The kings of the Iberican sound has unleashed their next single, and it’s an absolute scorcher. A tech-house masterpiece fitting for the dark, grimey Ibiza underground scene, “Alarmeon” is geared to blow up the underground dance scene as one of the biggest releases of 2014.
