Staff Picks: 5 Favorite Songs Of The Week Vol. 5
Every week, a staff member of the EDM.com team collects a short list of their favorite tracks that they've been rinsing as of late. This week, our Staff Picks are curated by Carissa Gerzeny, and she selected a pulsing assortment of tracks and genres that have caught her attention in the last seven days. Vol. 5's picks include house icon Michael Woods, Dirty South, Hot Since 82 and a special collab between Green Velvet & Patrick Topping. Here are Carissa's 5 favorite tracks of the last week:
1. Michael Woods - Brain Went Ping
Michael Woods, who is moving his residency to the new SLS Las Vegas LiFE nightclub, is resurfacing from a brief production pause with a revitalizing new single “Brain Went Ping.” The progressive tune, released on Deadmau5’s Mau5trap imprint, showcases a big room style in a darker fashion. The masterpiece instantly enraptures the listener with driving electro synths and a thumping techno bassline.

2. Dirty South - Freefallin’ (Dirty South Remix)
Illustrating the Australian producer’s diverse production skills, Dirty South prolongs to connect with fans on every element of his new album, With You. Re-working an emotional track from his own production, “Freefallin (Dirty South Remix)” transforms the original into a definitive club edition. Featuring a stunning vocalist, Gita Lake, the downtempo track creates a beautiful buildup, then releases into an atmospheric resonance. Dirty South’s unparalleled progressive house vision is recognized in this melodic remix.

3. Sante & Sidney Charles - All Night Long
Ingraining their soulful and groovy sound, Sante & Sidney Charles join forces in a new dancefloor pleaser “All Night Long.” Pioneers of deep affinity and old disco, the two collectively fuse a hi-hat rhythm with a catchy vocal hook, packed with house roots and a classy simplicity. This selection delivers an unstoppable force on the dance music horizon.
The track is available for purchase on Hot Creations here.
4. Hot Since 82 - Time Out
Daley Padley, also known as Hot Since 82, released his debut mix album, Knee Deep in Sound. Released on his own imprint, the LP has four new Hot Since 82 tracks. One of the British producer’s newest creations, “Time Out,” is one of my favorites, fueled by soulful beats. The forward-thinking house track gradually builds with infectious energy, culminating in a wicked groove that defines Hot Since 82’s signature sound.
5. Green Velvet & Patrick Topping - Voicemail
A favorite in the Hot Creations roster, Patrick Topping, collaborates with the legendary Green Velvet in a funky hit “Voicemail.” This tech-house beat unleashes a freaky disposition, layered with the catchy mantra, “meet me at the club.” The two masterminds, who will be performing together this Thanksgiving Eve at Verboten in Brooklyn, New York, come together to deliver an Ibiza-like ambiance. Expect this groovy track to drop in the after-hours of the night.
