Warner Bros. Producing Movie About Female DJ Who Posed As Male To Earn Respect

Tatiana Alvarez has been a relatively well-known DJ under the name DJ Tatiana for the past few years. However, it was just revealed that she actually dressed as a male when she first started DJing. At the outset of her career, she went under the name of DJ Musikillz and disguised herself as a man in order to gain respect from the male-dominated industry. As she became more popular, she slowly stripped away her male disguise to show the public that females possess just as much DJing talent as males.

If you think this sounds like a movie script, Warner Bros. agrees with you. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to the story of DJ Tatiana, and the film will be executive produced by Benjamin Anderson and Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures.

If you attended EDC Las Vegas 2012, you might be familiar with DJ Tatiana. On the night that strong wind gusts shut down the festival, DJ Tatiana was one of the few DJs who was allowed to perform. She spun an ambient/downtempo set, which made the small crowd of remaining EDC attendees very happy.

Dance music is clearly a male-dominated industry, but we hope this film will give female producers/DJs the confidence to try and break into dance music.
