Calvin Harris Makes 2014 List Of Highest Paid Musicians
When Forbes released their list of highest paid EDM artists earlier this year, it came as little surprise to see Calvin Harris sitting atop the ranks. After all, he did release some of the biggest singles of the year, including "Summer," "Blame" feat. John Newman, and "Outside" featuring Ellie Goulding, and received an astounding million-dollar payout for his performance at the private Bacardi Triangle festival. He made $66 million this year, which crushed all previous records for EDM artists, but what many people might not have recognized is how high he ranked in relation to the rest of the music industry's highest earning musicians.
Forbes recently announced their list of 2014's highest paid musicians, and unsurprisingly enough, Calvin Harris still managed to rank in the top 10. Standing snug in between Paul McCartney ($71 million) and Toby Keith ($65 million), Harris was able to beat Taylor Swift ($64 million), Jay Z ($60 million), Justin Timberlake ($57 million), Rihanna ($48 million), Katy Perry ($40 million), Jennifer Lopez ($37 million), Miley Cyrus ($36 million), Lady Gaga and Drake ($33 million each).
Many musicians made double-digit millions but still fell short of the Top 30, including Britney Spears, Avicii, Kanye West, Madonna, Macklemore, David Guetta, Lil Wayne, Tiesto and Birdman. Some of the top earners above Harris were Dr Dre ($620 million), Beyonce ($115 million), Bruce Springsteen ($81 million), Justin Bieber ($80 million) and One Direction ($75 million).
