Ultra continues to establish itself as one of the top EDM promotion companies in the industry. From their roots in Miami, they have steadily branched out into four additional continents including, Europe, South America, and Africa, and are now establishing footholds in Southeast Asia in Korea and Japan. Dancing Astronaut is reporting that in a press release from BusinessWire.com Avex Live announced that in 2015 Ultra will return to Japan and take place from Sept. 19th to Sept. 21st. The 2014 event featured talent such as Hardwell, Afrojack, and Martin Garrix. The same press release also noted that an expected 90,000 attendees will make it one of Japan’s largest ever music festivals.
Considering that this is coming on the heels of Japan’s recent decision to reverse it’s law against dancing passed midnight, it appears Japanese authorities are becoming much more tolerant towards dance music. This is a trend we have seen growing all over Asia. In fact, Ultra’s first foray into the Asian market was only back in 2012 with UMF Korea. Performances by Skrillex, Carl Cox, The Crystal Method, Steve Aoki drew in over 50,000 over two days. At the time, CNN noted it was the “Asian debut of the world's largest electronic music festival.”
