The DJ Snake and Lil Jon hit "Turn Down For What" became the EDM's biggest crossover hit of 2014, largely launching DJ Snake from a relatively underground producer, to a massive dance music star. However, the Australian music news publication, Stoney Roads, is reporting that the future house pioneer Tchami co-produced and co-wrote the track. The fellow Parisian producer's credit pops up on multiple music website's listings of "Turn Down For What", attributing him by his real name, Martin Bresso. SecondHandMusic lists him as a co-writer, Discog's profile of Bresso credits him as a co-writer and co-arranger, JB Hi-Fi Now Music labels him as a mastering engineer, and the All Music page for Now That's What I Call Party Anthems 2 credits him with DJ Snake and Lil Jon.
Despite the number of under-the-radar credits, Tchami's contributions toward the track do not lessen the effort put in by Snake and Jon. Tchami likely receives royalities and other compensation for the track's success, but it's interesting that he chose not to be listed as a primary producer. Tchami and Snake go back a few years, as they both helped produce songs for Lady Gaga's album Artpop. Both producers' careers picked up considerable steam this past year, with Snake being nominated for a Grammy and Tchami touring with the likes of Skrillex and Diplo.
