Brazil May Be The Next Hot Spot for Tomorrowland
Since 2005, Tomorrowland has been one of the largest electronic dance music festivals in the world. Last year’s festival sold out in a mere 35 minutes and reached over 180,000 attendees. In September 2013, Tomorrowland had its first ever American spin-off known as TomorrowWorld in Atlanta. Now, it looks like ID&T, the organization behind Tomorrowland, is looking to expand once again.
According to exqlusiv.com, ID&T started their search last January for a special location on every continent to host Tomorrowland. As of right now, they are exploring Brazil to be established as their third home. However, founders Mau and Michiel Beers say, “We are expanding, but only to locations that feel like a home to us.”
Although these rumors have not been confirmed, Debby Wilmsen a spokeswoman at ‘de tijd’ says, “We are looking at different countries on different continents for international expansion, but the focus for now is initially on the anniversary edition in Belgium and the second edition of TomorrowWorld."
I think it is safe to say these rumors may become true sooner than later. International expansion is one of the main goals for all major electronic music festivals, as we've already seen with Insomniac and Ultra, but only time will tell. We will be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
