Gesaffelstein And A$AP Rocky Collaboration Is Unforgettable

Gesaffelstein and A$AP Rocky have come together to create a techno-influenced hip hop track for the Divergent soundtrack. "In Distress" was premiered on Complex this morning.

This is one of many tracks on the soundtrack that feature an EDM producer. A few of the other big producers on the soundtrack are Skrillex, Zedd, and Pretty Lights. However, "In Distress" was what I was looking forward to hearing the most, and it didn't disappoint me.

Gesaffelstein is coming off a huge 2013, which included the release of one of my favorite albums of the year, Aleph. Working with a rapper isn't foreign to the French producer, as he helped produce two tracks on Kanye West's Yeezus, "Black Skinhead" and "Send It Up." Also, A$AP Rocky has experience working with a big producer from the dance music industry. His collaboration with Skrillex, "Wild For The Night," was a huge hit. He even opened for Skrillex at one of his Takeover shows, and it was depicted in the recap video we covered earlier this week.

My expectations were very high for "In Distress" due to the artists' successful EDM and hip hop collaborations in the past. As expected, A$AP Rocky's flow laid on top of the dark Gesaffelstein beat is a perfect match. "In Distress" will be on repeat for me all weekend.

I know the chance of the two collaborating again in the future are slim, but I certainly hope they both continue to experiment with their sounds.

If you're interested in purchasing the track, the Divergent soundtrack will be available on March 11.
