On March 12, 2013, deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin got together to spin a B2B set. It took place at SXSW following a public discussion between the producers regarding the current state of dance music. Despite the popularity of the set, it was never uploaded in full to the internet. Over the past year, the only evidence of the set was short YouTube clips. However, Hawtin just surprised his fans by uploading the full set to his SoundCloud and releasing it on March 12, 2014—the anniversary of the event.

After a year of patiently waiting, this set is a nice little gift from Hawtin to his fans. The mix features some great techno, and it's cool to hear deadmau5 drop short snippets of the vocals from his tracks.

The release of the set comes a little more than a week after deadmau5 put out a techno track on Hawtin's label under the alias testpilot. deadmau5 has shown the ability to produce some quality techno, and he recently seemed a bit excited about the genre while talking to inthemix. It would be awesome to hear some more techno from deadmau5 in the future.
