Pete Tong has just been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of British Empireby Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, for his successes as a music personality and producer. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what an MBE is, it's an award given out by the British Empire to nationally-known individuals who perform at the highest level in their particular profession. A prime example of this is Pete Tong, who has been one of the top dance music personalities for decades.

The internationally-known DJ, radio host, and producer has been the voice of BBC Radio 1’s Essential Selection since 1991. When he’s not bringing in exclusive DJs and producers, he’s busy running his own record label.

According to BBC Newsbeat, Pete Tong stated, “I've been standing here for a few hours waiting to do this and still have to pinch myself. I've spent my career doing something I love, playing records.” His humble words show his true passion and drive for the industry, which confirms that this award was well deserved.

Pete Tong is a true living legend in the dance music industry. He has been one of the most influential tastemakers for decades, and he continues to bring the best music to his fans. EDM.com sends Pete Tong a big congratulations, and we are always looking forward to his next Essential New Tune!
