Avicii is teaming up with Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean, and Alexandre Pires to create “Dar um Jeito (We Will Find A Way)," this year's World Cup closing anthem. The collaborative effort will be performed live at the World Cup, which is one of the world’s most-viewed televised events. This lineup matches the star power that the World Cup enlisted for their official anthem. The official anthem, "We Are One," was created by Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and Brazillian singer, Claudia Leitte.
"Dar um Jeito" is Portuguese for “We Will Find A Way.” The composer, Ash Pournouri, says that the track aims to “send a message of optimism and opportunity with the music and the words.” You might know Pournouri better as Avicii's manager.
The announcement came last Friday from Sony Music Entertainment and the World Cup’s administrative body, FIFA. Recently, FIFA has taken a greater interest in the role of music in the World Cup, and their increased interest will culminate in this year’s release of the 2014 World Cup Album.
FIFA’s Marketing Director Thierry Weil said: “FIFA and Sony have been working hard in developing an album that brings the sounds of Brazil to life through a variety of creative tracks. Santana, Wyclef, Avicii and Alexandre Pires are true musical icons and I am thrilled they will be part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony.”
"Dar um Jeito" will be performed live by Avicii, Santana, Wyclef Jean, and Pires during the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro on July 13th.
