Summer Camp Reveals Schedule

Summer Camp Music Festival just gave out their set times; you better plan accordingly.

Tucked away somewhere deep inside the lush woods of Chillicothe, Illinois, awaits an experience unlike any other. Summer Camp Music Festival is returning for what promises to be yet another spectacular campaign, and I for one, cannot wait! While the EDCs and Ultras of the world tend to steal the spotlight, Summer Camp quietly goes about their own business. The festival, which is traditionally very jam-band oriented, has taken on more of an EDM presence in recent years. When Summer Camp began back in 2001, the festival had about 1,000 attendees and 20 bands that played on two stages over the course of two days. Since then, the festival has evolved into a four-day extravaganza that brings out over 100 acts to fill their seven unique stages.

Summer Camp officially released this year’s set times late Friday. After having the opportunity to scan over each day, it was a bit of a relief to see that there were not many scheduling conflicts. The one major difference this year is that sets will now go till 2:00am on the main stages (they used to only go until midnight). Now, let’s get down to business!

SEE SCHEDULE HERE: http://summercampfestival.com/schedule/

Thursday, May 22nd

Thursday at Summer Camp is commonly referred to as the pre-party. Which is actually a fairly accurate description because this day isn’t nearly as intense as the three that follow. However, that doesn’t mean that there’s not tons good music to see. Names like Cosby Sweater, Future Rock, Manic Focus, Digital Tape Machine, & EOTO will all be performing throughout the night.

Friday, May 23rd

Things really get going today! With everyone finally settled into the campsites, there’s nothing left to do but dance and enjoy great music. It’s pretty clear that the earlier portion of the day is definitely geared toward the jam-band demographic. But come 6:00pm, things really begin pick up. Robotic Pirate Monkey, Bro Safari, Umphrey’s McGee (two sets), Beats Antique, Primus, EOTO, Manic Focus, & Wick-It the Instigator are all scheduled to play late into Friday evening.

Saturday, May 24th

With the festival now in full swing, there’s a long list of appealing names on today’s docket. Beginning as early as 2pm, you can catch Future Rock, Cherub, ETC(!)ETC(!), The Floozies, HeRobust, Lotus, Break Science, UZ, Umphrey’s McGee, (two sets, again), KOAN Sound, The M Machine, & Dirt Monkey. Talk about variety; this day is loaded with it! Be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Sunday, May 25th

Summer Camp’s fourth and final day brings everything to a close with a bang. The Umphrey’s McGee early afternoon set has become a staple of this day. However, if you’re feeling just as groggy as everyone else at this point, your day probably doesn’t pick up until a little later. Some of the must-see acts from Sunday are Lettuce, Trey Anastasio Band, Wolfgang Gartner, Exmag, Bassnectar, Gramatik, SuperVision, Figure, and Russ Liquid. Watch out for that sneaky little scheduling conflict between Exmag and Bassnectar, because you won’t want to miss a single second of Bassnectar.

I’d also like to take a quick moment to mention that this festival is littered with Moe. performances. Summer Camp is pretty much considered to be their festival. So if that’s a group that you're interested in seeing, there will be more than enough chances to fit them into your schedule.

It’s officially less than a month until the festival begins, so if you don’t have your tickets yet, pick them up here. In the meantime, mull over these recently released time slots and start to devise your master plan for Summer Camp 2014!
