The Bixel Boys have been on a tear since EDC Las Vegas. The duo, consisting of Rob May and Ian MacPherson, performed two sets at EDC Las Vegas, including a closing set at the HARD Stage on Day 1.
In the past few weeks, Bixel Boys have released their Empire EP, put together a mix for THUMP, and contributed a mix to Triple J, which is one of Australia's most popular radio stations. Additionally, the duo is currently in Australia on a five-stop mini tour. If you haven't heard of the Bixel Boys, you might be familiar with their #FREELIFE t-shirt, which has been worn by Skrillex, RL GRIME/Clockwork, Lil Jon, MAKJ, Leighton James of Adventure Club, Alvin Risk, and Emoh Instead.
Bixel Boys have a very original sound, and they incorporate a lot of different styles into their music. The duo has coined the term "big room underground" to describe their music. It's a fitting description, as they have put a big room twist on sounds that you would typically hear at after-hours clubs.
Their new Empire EP is one of the more impressive EPs of 2014. Both songs on the EP, "Empire" and "Clutch," show off the duo's versatility.
