Dirty South, Michael Brun & Maarcos Move From Phazing Records & Release Singles On New Labels
Initiating what may be a new trend in the music business, three artists connected with Dirty South’s Phazing Records are cultivating new territory. Expanding beyond the independent label and developing their singular voices, Dirty South, Michael Brun, and Maarcos have revealed new singles and new record label associations.
Phazing Records, launched in 2010 by Dirty South, is one of the exclusive proponents of progressive, uplifting house music. Centered on big-room anthems and symphonic styles, fans may recall Dirty South’s Speed of Life album, Michael Brun’s track “Halfway” and Maarcos’ “Blaze” [Dirty South Edit]. It has been a year since Phazing has released a new tunes, and music fanatics are wondering what’s next.
On Friday, Dirty South premiered his new single, “Unbreakable," on BBC Radio1 with Pete Tong. It was named by Tong as his Essential New Tune. Dirty South also recently announced his signing to Astralwerks Records. "Unbreakable" is the first track by Dirty South on the label. Home to Porter Robinson, Deadmau5, Mat Zo, and several other electronic maestros, the legendary Astralwerks publicized the new partnership with the Australian-based producer as the next step in the artist’s evolution. A highly anticipated sophomore album will follow later this year, expected to span a multitude of genres.
Michael Brun’s latest projects are equally ambitious. Immersed in his individual musical foundation, the Haitian producer announced the launch of his own label titled Kid Coconut, a platform that will also help Haitian artists who wish to develop a music career. His debut release, “Zenith,” was released today, incorporating violin chords and an enthralling, insidious melody. Brun’s energetic and positive mentality in his work has led to recognition from Billboard, Rolling Stone and DJ Mag.
Similarly forging his own path, Maarcos recently introduced Fuze Records. The label's first single, “Pyro,” was released today, and it focuses on synth grooves, massive builds, and vitalizing house elements.
Departing from their origin, it is a pivotal time in the individual careers and musical journeys of Dirty South, Michael Brun, and Maarcos. Although each artist is moving on to a new platform, Phazing Records’ principles remain the same. Meanwhile, each of the artists will stay within the aesthetic of his own musical roots.
