In the sample-based world that we live in today, there are very few artists that have provided such a unique twist to hip-hop's sound like DJ Shadow. His extensive history within the scene has provided him with an unparalleled knowledge of hip-hop culture, and his emotionally-driven productions have become a reference point for many when learning the true potential of sampling in music.

His latest EP, The Liquid Amber, celebrates the launch of his new "Liquid Amber" imprint, and takes a unprecendented approach to his already unique productions. DJ Shadow utilizes many of his biggest influences in EDM today and blends them with his profound hip-hop knowledge to create a 3-track EP that includes 2 originals titled "Ghost Town" and "Mob," and a featured remix of the classic "Six Days" by Machinedrum.

EDM.com has premiered the single "Ghost Town" off of the EP for free download, and it is a dark and brooding composition that is filled to the brim with ecstatic drum breaks and footwork-inspired percussion. As described by DJ Shadow himself, "'Ghost Town' is an ambitious ride through many of the micro-genres within the Future Bass umbrella that have inspired me recently..."

DJ Shadow will be embarking on the "Renegades of Rhythm" tour later this fall with fellow turntablist icon Cut Chemist to celebrate the works of Afrika Bambaataa. Solely utilizing the legendary rapper's extensive vinyl collection, the duo will be travelling across the country to showcase their impeccable mixing skills and demonstrate the cultural and musical influence of Afrika Bambaataa in a 21st century setting.

Information on the tour can be found here, and look out for more amazing work from the talented DJ Shadow and his newest imprint Liquid Amber!
