One of the most prominent voices of dance music, Pete Tong, has officially announced another addition to his ever-expanding global empire. Partnering up with the SFX-owned Beatport and Premiere Networks, Tong is set to take over a total duration of two hours every week covering everything from A-Z. The Evolution Beatport Show will serve as an expansion to his pre-existing BBC Radio 1 Pete Tong Show, along with his Essential Mix radio show and All Gone Pete Tong. Tong will utilize Beatport charts to further enhance his upcoming radio show installment as a way to incorporate fresh and evolving tracks.
Tong is considered to be one of dance music's tastemakers, which makes him the best fit for hosting a monumental two-hour show. Jennifer Leimgruber, Premiere Networks EVP of Programming, expressed her opinion on Tong hosting The Evolution Beatport Show: “Beatport and Pete Tong bring such incredible depth of knowledge and expertise in EDM, and we look forward to providing an even greater platform to connect fans with their favorite music and artists, and to providing unique and valuable opportunities for radio stations and brand partners to connect with consumers.”
Tong stated his desire to incorporate more diverse sounds and opportunities in his newest installment: “I’m not preaching to be a messiah of EDM, because the hits of the scene have been on American radio for a long time. My fit is more ‘where can we use that platform to start to take some chances and break some new music and new ground?’”
What’s great about his new radio show is that it covers an unlimited range of topics including music-related breaking news, fresh releases, exclusive content, chart updates and top dance tracks from Beatport. EDM radio shows have quickly evolved from simply broadcasting the mainstream hits to unveiling all sorts of layers of flavor. Clear Channel is the parent company of Premiere Networks, which constitutes an even deeper relationship between the EDM world and social media of all parameters. Beatport has remained the epicenter of EDM for almost a decade now, and this newly formed partnership is a clear indication that SFX only aims to continue their evidential growth in the community.
