The MTV VMAs took place last night, and two dance music producers earned awards. Zedd took home the MTV Clubland award for "Stay The Night." DJ Snake's video for "Turn Down For What" won the trophy for Best Direction. The video was directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

We all know that MTV isn't known for being the most credible source when it comes to dance music. However, they are certainly making a concerted effort to develop a stronger voice in the EDM community. They've created their Clubland brand, and they made a big splash in the industry when they announced their decision to broadcast Tomorrowland highlights.

In any case, it's great to see dance music being recognized on a massive stage like the MTV VMAs. Although the award show is often criticized, it still remains a culturally relevant event. DJ Snake and Zedd have hit the mainstream, and they deserve the widespread attention they're currently receiving.
