From their sound to the aesthetic appeal of their futuristic helmets, Daft Punk is one of the most widely recognized electronic groups in the history of music. Their most recent album, Random Access Memories, is a highly esteemed production across the globe. It earned the duo a number of prestigious accolades including Favorite Electronic Music Artist in 2013 at the American Music Awards and Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammys.
This success is now followed by French publication tsugi magazine reporting that one-half of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, is working on a solo album. Although no release date has been confirmed yet, we are ecstatic to learn that such a unique musical project is coming to fruition. It will be interesting to get a different perspective on the sound created by Daft Punk, and will undoubtedly give the world a better picture of how this duo seamlessly combines their individual sounds into flawless productions. French star Charlotte Gainsbourg will be featured on the album.
The only news better than this would be if Guy-Manuel’s partner in crime, Thomas Bangalter, was also working on a solo album; but alas, beggars can’t be choosers. We are chomping at the bit to see what Guy-Manuel delivers.
