Electric Zoo Wanted To Stay Open, But New York City Shut Them Down
As you likely know by now, Electric Zoo Festival New York was shut down early over the weekend, leaving fans without a third day of the festival.
A source familiar with the discussions surrounding Electric Zoo's evacuation and cancellation said that there was a debate between New York City officials and Electric Zoo organizers after the severe weather evacuation whether or not to cancel the remainder of the show. Electric Zoo organizers wanted to reopen the doors and continue the festival but the city made the call to shut it down after flash flood warnings for the area continued.
Chase & Status, Alesso, Bingo Players and Kaskade were scheduled and had yet to perform on the final night.
This is the second year in a row that the festival was forced to cancel their final day. The city of New York, Electric Zoo and the Mayor all agreed to shut down early last year.
Electric Zoo’s Day 3 has been deemed as “cursed” by fans, but weather is a real hazard and was out of the control of Electric Zoo’s organizers. Electric Zoo is offering refunds on day 3. Follow them to stay updated on the refund process.
