Calvin Harris has had an incredible 2014 thus far, including the release of his smash hit “Summer” and earning the top spot on the Forbes highest-paid DJs/producers list. Now, Harris has broken the one billion play mark on Spotify, making him the platform's most streamed British solo act of all time. Overall, one billion streams adds up to over 5,000 years of combined continued listening. Spotify announced last year that artists earn an average of $0.007 per song play, which means Harris has generated approximately $7 million through the platform.
To celebrate, Harris will be hosting a Spotify Playlist Takeover on Tuesday September 9. The takeover will include many of his favorite tracks.
Mark Terry, Co-President of Columbia Records UK commented on the accomplishment: “This is a landmark achievement for Calvin and deserved recognition that he is in the elite tier of global artists. His recent level of success has been extraordinary and something that all of us here at Columbia are very proud to be part of.”
