The 'Beat Blox' Is A Fun Way For Anyone To Make Music

This might just be the coolest toy EDM has ever seen.

I can bet that most of the people reading this article have had at least a few fleeting thoughts about their potential as a DJ. Luckily, there may soon be an ingenious solution on the market enabling one to create music without having any knowledge regarding production, and it goes by the name of Beat Blox. We doubt this will help you rise to the top of DJ Mag’s Top 100, but it looks pretty awesome.

Beat Blox is the brainchild of Per Holmquist, a student at Beckmans College of Design in Sweden. Three turntables are combined with blocks placed on various parts of each deck, where a sensor is then able to detect them and ultimately produce sound. Check out the video below which showcases the Beat Blox’s functions.

Although not currently in the stages of mass production, Holmquist’s creation will be touring various events around Europe. Considering how producers and DJs are coming out of the woodworks at a younger and younger age these days, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this became a staple toy in households around the world a few years from now.
