Hardwell is without a doubt one of the biggest mainstream DJ/producers in the industry. You can catch him headlining basically any major music festival, and even if you’re just the average listener you still probably know the name. The Dutch producer has put out some of EDM’s greatest hits, but his most recent release, “Sally” featuring Harrison, off his forthcoming album United We Are isn’t one of them.

In a nutshell, “Sally” does not push said boundaries Hardwell promised he would, as the track displays essentially every popular electro house song. “Sally” kicks off with the usual electro build up, which leads into a catchy guitar riff fit for any mainstream pop song. Harrison’s explicit lyrics install a pop-punk feel to the electronic track, at which point it has come to question if this is actually Hardwell or not. But alas, Hardwell’s signature big room, electro house drop follows soon enough. The track even has the groundbreaking “1, 2, 3” countdown, proving that this track is the embodiment of what EDM is not.
