Caribou Releases Live Album of 'Caribou Vibrations Ensemble' Tour
Dan Snaith, the man behind the massive ambient-rock-turned-indie-electronica band Caribou, has just released a live album chronicling his live touring show “Caribou Vibrations Ensemble” in 2011. For these special live shows, Snaith put together an all-star live band capable of creating a one-of-a-kind sonic landscape and a truly unique live show experience. His 2011 “CVE” tour and further live album titled CVE Live 2011 from the tour features artists such as Four Tet, Sinkane, James Holden, and more in his 11-piece band.
The half-hour album features three tracks from his live tour. “Bowls” and “Sun” were recorded at his show in Ghent, Belgium, while “Ahmed, Colin, James, Kieran, Kyle, Rob and Steve” was recorded the next night in London. The album can be downloaded today via Bandcamp, and limited edition LP copies are in stores starting January 19th. Snaith has announced that all proceeds from the live album will go to the nonprofit organization Gendered Intelligence, “in memory of our dear friend Julia Brightly.”
Coming off a huge 2014 which saw the electronica band win Pete Tong’s Essential Mix of the Year, Caribou also kicked off 2015 by releasing a massive 1,000 song playlist outlining his musical history and his musical inspirations. 2015 is sure to be massive for the band, with a world tour hitting Australia, Asia, and Europe, along with two separate trips to North America. Alongside the release of the CVE Live 2011 album, Caribou uploaded a video of the full concert from which the album was recorded, and you can check out the video below.
