EDM Dominates Canadian Juno Awards Nominations
When it isn’t festival season, it’s award season – which means that its almost time for the Juno Awards, Canada’s version of the Grammys. As electronic dance music continues to impact the current generation, we are seeing an increase of EDM acts at award shows. This year, EDM artists received nominations across the board from breakout group of the year to artist of the year.
While 1<2 by deadmau5, Our Love by Caribou, and Alone For The First Time by Ryan Hemsworth received nominations for electronic album of the year. deadmau5 also received a nomination for artist of the year. Kiesza turned out to be nominated for a grand total of four nominations for awards including dance recording of the year, single of the year, breakthrough artist of the year, and video of the year; she will also be doing a live perfomance at the award show. Zeds Dead and Adventure Club both received nominations for breakthrough group of the year, while Chromeo landed two nominations for group of the year and dance recording of the year for their track “White Women.”
