The German band Kraftwerk have set the benchmark for producing electronic music for years, inspiring the likes of Daft Punk and many others. Their esteemed reputation and contributions to the genre can explain why Aston University in Birmingham, England is organizing an academic conference on the group's legacy. The two-day conference, titled "Industrielle Volksmusik for the Twenty-First Century: Kraftwerk and the Birth of Electronic Music in Germany", will host a number of talks and discussions for academia and Kraftwerk fans alike. Appearances include former Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür and music writer David Stubbs. The conference will be held on January 21-22, with tickets priced at only £20 and £10 for students from other universities.
