The DJ King Of Ibiza Announces End Of 15-Year Residency
Space, a club on the Mediterranean party island of Ibiza and one of the most famous clubs in Europe, will never be the same. Not only because the owners intend to turn it into Ushuaia Club, but because its losing one of its longstanding heroes - Carl Cox. The international DJ has announced that 2016 will be his last year at Space Ibiza, ending a 15-year residency and an era.
For these 15 years, the house and techno DJ from the UK reigned as the undisputed King of Ibiza. This means that next year will inevitably be a season for the books, and so Cox confirmed to DJ Mag.
"Next year will be my last year at Space Ibiza, so please do not miss a single night if you can, very special lineups for 15 weeks. Watch this space…"
In an interview with MixMag, Cox explained the bittersweet reason why it's time to move on.
"You know what, if I'm there for the next two years, I'll have been there for 15 years and I think I'll have represented dance music at the highest level among anyone I know. I'd be quite happy to walk away from it [after that] and do something else."
Time will tell what's in store for the legendary dance music veteran next.
