The Chainsmokers dropped their new single "New York City" today, released as part of the Bouquet EP, featuring previously released tracks like "Roses" and "Waterbed". On the song's description on Soundcloud, The Chainsmokers reveal that the track has a long history, with over a 100 different versions produced before they settled on the final mix.

"New York City" is more song than banger, with somber strings, plodding piano chords and mournful vocals about loss of love. Emotive synths build the track up to the drops, which feature rapid pace house beats and spiraling synth leads.

Despite being intensely danceable, The Chainsmokers craft a rueful anthem to the big apple, a contrast to the general pet themes that work their way into song-based EDM.
