Elvis Presley's Ex-Wife Talks Moving His Legacy On Through EDM
Priscilla Presley, Elvis' ex-wife and co-founder of Elvis Presley Enterprises, sat down with Huffington Post yesterday to promote the release of If I Can Dream, a reimagining of Elvis' music with help from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In the video interview, Priscilla opens up about who Elvis would choose to collaborate were he still around today as well as why she thinks the king of rock n' roll would be interested to get involved with electronic dance music.
"You have to take some kind of risks in life, and Elvis - like I said earlier - was a big risk taker. He truly would have loved to have done more with his music but he was stifled by the labels and by the people behind the labels."
While Priscilla has no plans to take his music to an EDM artist in order to keep the king's legacy alive, she admitted she would be open to ideas and opportunities and would certainly be interested to feel it out.
Either way, it's safe to say that Elvis would be happy to learn that the major label model has been crumbling in recent years, giving way to a new generation of musicians who now hold the power and freedom to make a name for themselves using today's music platforms and social media.
