Breaking News: US Coast Guard Searching for Woman Reported Overboard on Mad Decent Boat Party
The Mad Decent Boat Party which set sail on the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship from the Port of Miami on Wednesday headed for Cozumel, Mexico was forced to stop about 22 miles off the coast of Cuba after a passenger went overboard on Thursday night around 7pm EST.
The Norwegian cruise line released the following statement on the tragic incident, which was also released by Mad Decent.
"Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship's crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time."
The U.S. Coast Guard took over the search, and a new statement from Mad Decent about an hour ago reported that the cruise ship was returning to Miami. The USCG Southeast released the name of the passenger, Kaylyn Rose Summer, 24, of Charleston, SC.
