EDM Artist to Make History as First to Perform Nobel Peace Prize Event [VIDEO]
December 10th and 11th will mark a massive moment for the EDM community. Kygo has been invited to perform along with a-ha and Aurora as one of the key musical guests for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert on December 11th. This is the first time in history that an EDM artist has been invited to participate in this prestigious event.
This year's Nobel Peace Prize is being awarded to the National Dialogue Quartet in Tunisia. The Norwegian Nobel Committee chose the democracy group as this year's laureates "for its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011."
Kygo is also helping the Norwegian Nobel Committee start a new tradition as he will also perform a special acoustic version of his hit "Firestone" for the laureates after the Torch Parade outside of the Grand Hotel Oslo on December 10th.
"I am proud to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. And even more so when I see the other artists confirmed for the concert." - Kygo.
"Kygo is a Norwegian world sensation that we are looking forward to seeing at Telenor Arena in December. Considering the hit catalogue he already has produced, I'm happy that the Nobel Peace Prize Concerts new format allows each artist time for additional songs." - Olav Njølstad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
This news coincides with Kygo's announcement of a career-defining performance during which he will unveil his new live show at the Barclays Center in New York City this January. For his biggest show yet, Kygo will be supported by Danish singer MØ - famous for her work on Lean On - and will be joined by vocalist and collaborator Conrad Sewell.
