Anonymous Attempts To Organize The Largest Global Protest In History
Thousands of masked protesters gathered in solidarity today across the globe for the Million Mask March, an annual protest started four years ago by hacktivist group Anonymous.
Known for its cyber attacks against governments, religious groups and big corporations, Anonymous adopted the Guy Fawkes mask from the V for Vendetta franchise turning it into a symbol of the group's vigilante stunts. Leading up to today's protest, the group publicized that it would be publishing a verified list doxing members of the KKK.
Today, November 5th, is the anniversary of the day that activist Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament, and this year, Anonymous called on more than 670 different cities to hopefully organize the largest global protest in history.
All over the world today, activists donned their Guy Fawkes masks in protest of the "encroaching destruction of many civil liberties, the creation of a 'surveillance state' and the 'government's disregard for migrants, for the poor, the elderly and the disabled.'"
