BREAKING NEWS: Martin Garrix & Spinnin' Records Feud Turns a Corner
At the end of August, Martin Garrix took to his social media to confirm rumors that he would be splitting from his record label and management over disagreements regarding ownership rights. He expressed his disappointment in a public statement, and Spinnin' Records responded with their own statement claiming they did - in fact - transfer ownership. News later broke that Garrix filed a lawsuit against the label.
Just an hour ago, Martin Garrix announced that he has pulled the lawsuit against Spinnin' Records. The wunderkind's team circulated a press release with an official statement explaining the reason for withdrawing.
I hereby inform you that I have withdrawn the summary proceedings against Spinnin Records (kort geding) of 3 December 2015.
As a result of further negotiations, Spinnin Records has transferred ownership rights of my music back to me, which was the main goal of the summary proceedings. I will grant Spinnin Records an exclusive license (for a limited period) for the tracks that were released by Spinnin Records until August 2015.
The remaining differences of opinion between parties will most probably be subject of further legal proceedings. In the meantime parties will keep trying to resolve this matter amicably.
