Kygo Drops New Single, Teases New Album & Named Top Breakout Artist
Kygo is coming out of the gate strong this month, receiving the title of Top Breakout Artist by Spotify, releasing a brand new single, and announcing the official date of his debut album.
"2015 has been a crazy year for me, and Spotify have supported me right from the start. It’s an honour to be their Breakout Artist of the year, and I’m super excited to see what we can do together in 2016!" - Kygo
Kygo teased his first LP by changing his cover photo on Facebook to a plain white background with "12.02.16." While fans wait for his debut album to drop on February 2, 2016, they can stream the first single from the LP "Stay" featuring the young female vocalist Maty Noyes below.
"Stay" comes a year after his hit song "Firestone" and features 18-year-old female vocalist Noyes from Corinth, Mississippi. Here's what both Kygo and Noyes had to say about the collaboration in a recent interview with MTV.
"I actually co-wrote the song in maybe two to three hours, laid the vocals and thought to myself, ’The only thing it’s missing is a drop from Kygo,'... We thought, let’s try and send it to him, and within days, he almost had it done. It came so easy, was sort of unbelievable. Having not met him during that process, a month later my friend invited me over to hang, and Kygo was there along with his crew. It was totally serendipitous and such a special way to meet. Some things are just meant to be!" Noyes said.
"She sent me over the demo. I loved it... Loved her voice. It was so unique. I just liked the idea and gave it a try. It was actually kind of a quick process. I feel like when I get the demos — I get a lot of demos — but when I get the right demo, I get very inspired. I produce around it, and it often goes very fast." Kygo told MTV.
"Stay" and is now available for purchase on iTunes.
