SFX Partners With Bestival For New Toronto Festival
The music festival market has grown at an incredible rate with many companies expanding into untapped markets. Dance music conglomerate SFX claims ownership to such events as TomorrowWorld, Mysteryland and Electric Zoo, and this summer the company will add another event to its reserve. SFX announced plans for a Canadian edition of U.K. festival Bestival, which will take place in Toronto on June 12-13, 2015. One of the key features on the original Bestival is that it takes place on the island Isle of Wight, and the Toronto edition will carry that theme by bringing 20,000 attendees to the Toronto Islands. Founded by BBC DJ Rob da Bank, Bestival is one of Europe's largest European music festivals, and SFX's hand in organizing this new festival holds promise.
“We have waited 12 years to decide to launch another Bestival outside of the U.K. and our beloved Bestival, on the Isle of Wight, which has grown into one of the most important festivals in the global calendar. It took a really special city, and an even more exciting site, with Toronto and Toronto Island, to make us take the leap. So, the waiting is over and we are so excited to be launching in North America in June, with a classic Bestival line-up waiting to thrill, intrigue and party! I’d like to thank all our partners, friends, new and old, and supporters in Toronto, for making this happen. We cannot wait!” -Rob da Bank
