Camel Audio, a third-party audio software manufacturer known for their Camel Phat distortion plug-in and the popular Alchemy synth, has been purchased by Apple. The company initially announced in January that it was shutting down, but all signs point towards an acquisition by Apple instead. Camel Audio’s registry now lists Apple’s London headquarters as its corporate address and lists a senior director of iTunes, Heather Joy, as its director.
While Apple has not officially made a statement on the acquisition of Camel Audio, it’s a safe bet to say that the massive technology company will be using Camel Audio’s software to improve Garageband, Apple’s basic digital audio workstation, and the recently updated Logic Pro, Apple’s professional digital audio workstation.
