Music Messenger, a new Israeli startup that provides easy music sharing and promotion, completed a financial raising round of $30 million. Developed in the vanguard of the mobile era, the app is backed by EDM heavyweight artists and other industry-leading figures. Investors include David Guetta, Tiesto, Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay manager Dave Holmes, among many other.
Available to both iPhone and Android users, Music Messenger is as simple and speedy as sending a text message. Already at 1 million users, the explicit and user-friendly app has established a company value of $100 million with a predicted tremendous growth in the future.
Dubbed as the “WhatsApp” for music, the app allows users to search from any song previously downloaded in their smartphone or the company’s music catalog and send it to anyone in the phone’s contacts. Personalization is possible with the ability to customize messages and cover photos. Perhaps the most convenient and favorable feature, Music Messenger abolishes the standard limitations of other common music apps such as advertisements, costs, and solely short samples.
CEO Oded Kobo underlines the company’s goals. “We aim to improve the way music is shared. If we can make it as easy to message a song as it is to text message, then the possibilities are staggering.”
