It's easy to forget how much time passes in the EDM world until you observe how slowly information travels outside of its orbit. The most recent example of this comes from the score of the newest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, which included Australian electro house duo Knife Party's 2011 breakout track "Internet Friends." Although now over three years old, the track has managed to go viral once again across several social media platforms.

In the plot line of "Spend," the character Aidan plays the song from a van while leading an away team, causing the character Noah to roll his eyes. As popular as EDM has become over the past five years, the track's inclusion in the episode - as well as the attention it garnered online - demonstrates that dance music still has a ways to come before being fully understood by the mainstream. Even though the high Dutch synths of "Internet Friends" now sound dated to even casual EDM fans, the average viewer likely didn't notice.

Present day Knife Party continues to play tracks from their October debut album Abandon Ship at stops on their world tour, the next of which will take place at Insomniac Events' Beyond Wonderland in San Bernardino, CA on March 21.
