Martin Garrix and Lindsey Stirling Among 2015 YouTube Music Awards Winners
YouTube just announced the winners of its 2015 YouTube Music Awards (YTMA), and both Martin Garrix and Lindsey Stirling made the list. The 50 winners represent this year's most innovative and engaging artists and include music moguls Snoop Dogg, Brad Paisley and Miley Cyrus. The video sharing platform honored the winners with a playlist entitled Experience the Music: The Artists of 2015. Among the tracks selected for the playlist were Garrix's "Forbidden Voices" and Stirling's "Beyond the Veil."
"These are the artists with the biggest growth in views, subscribers and engagement over the last six months," the YouTube announcement reads. "The artists you watched over 47 billion times collectively. 50 innovative acts that continue to make YouTube the place where artists and fans connect."
The 2015 ceremony is anticipated to reveal a reinvention of the awards show. The first and only other YTMA ceremony directed by Spike Jonze was in 2013 and featured live performances by several artists including Stirling herself. The new format will involve artists creating original music videos that will debut all at once on March 23, 2015.
