The week of Ultra Music Festival and Winter Music Conference is not only one of the biggest and best EDM events in the world, and it's also the official kick off to the festival season. From November to March, artists buckle down in the studio to work on new material, and oftentimes, Ultra serves as the perfect place to share brand new, unreleased music to the masses.
In 2014, with his track “Animals” still dominating radio play and the festival circuit, Martin Garrix tore up Ultra’s main stage in his first-ever U.S. festival appearance. The Dutchman’s return in 2015 was palpable, as he announced he was going to be playing a very special set at Ultra with over half of the set being brand new tracks.
In his hour-long takeover of the mainstage, Garrix premiered his collaboration with Tiesto, teaming up with his fellow countrymen on an uplifting, progressive number called, “The Only Way Is Up.” Garrix also premiered a collaboration with Avicii, who made a return to Ultra this year, called "Waiting in Love" featuring John Legend.
To close out his set with a bang, Garrix brought out a surprise collaborator and special guest, Usher, to perform their track, “Don’t Look Down.” It was a moment that shocked the world. You can watch the video of Usher and Martin Garrix’s performance together below!
