Buzzfeed Declares 1999 Music's Greatest Year

Buzzfeed is back with its latest sonic superlative, this time claiming that 1999 was the best year in music. Citing superstars such as Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, and *NSYNC, Buzzfeed boldly states that in terms of pop music, 1999 is simply unrivalled. And while that might be true, as no one can deny the glory of Sisqo's "Thong Song," we wonder if the same can be said for EDM.

EDM had some particularly bright moments in the 90s, especially within the house music scene. 1999 in particular offered up a number of gems including Moby's Play, the ultimate one-hit wonder "Blue" by hence-forgotten Eiffel 65, and even Fatboy Slim's timeless classic "Praise You." Although 1999 might've been great for some genres including EDM, it's still safe to say the golden age of dance music is happening right now.

Take a gander at the seemingly unreal list of releases peaking in 1999 here.
