UK-based experimental/psychedelic band Portishead's founding member Geoff Barrow, in conjunction with the highly esteemed film and TV soundtrack composer Ben Salisbury, have together composed the score for the new Sci-Fi thriller, Ex Machina.
The film, set to be released this April at SXSW and distributed by A24, marks the directorial debut of Alex Garland, screenwriter of Dredd, Sunshine, and 28 Days Later.
The pair had reportedly replaced failed attempts at "football" for a more productive hobby, working on a music project together - eventuating into the pair meeting and discussing some possible work on a feature film project 'Dredd.' Barrow and Salisbury collaborated on the on a score for Garland's 'Dredd' but in the end, the venture went unused.
"It's been great for Ben and I to be working with Alex again, and hopefully we have written the kind of score an intense sci-fi thriller like this needs."
The soundtrack for the critically acclaimed 'tense and intelligent' film will be released on CD and vinyl on April 7 in the US.
