Avicii Breaks Impressive Record With Staggering New Numbers
Shazam is a music identifying application that allows you to keep track of all the songs you’ve ever heard but didn’t know the name of. It is also a very useful app to track trends of popular songs from locally to globally.
The music app can provide a telling snapshot of what songs have the biggest and widest impact. Having introduced a "hall of fame" for the hits people ID the most, Avicii’s country-infused dance track "Wake Me Up!" leads the way charting at the no. 1 most Shazamed song. The hit has been searched over 20 million times on the app.
"Wake Me Up!" was released on June 17, 2013, yet it is still proving to be significantly influential even after its decline from the top of the charts in over 30 countries.
Shazam splits its hall of fame into a number of categories, dependent on the number of Shazams accrued. Tracks with upwards of 15 million searches are in the platinum tier. As it stands, only four other singles besides “Wake Me Up!” have reached this echelon - Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines,” Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Passenger’s “Let Her Go” and lastly Clean Bandit’s breakout dance hit “Rather Be.”
Not only is Shazam useful to track personal favorites, it’s also a powerful tool in assessing the growth and cultural prominence of songs in real-time.
