In a recent interview with MTV, Dutch DJ/producer Martin Garrix discusses his recent collaboration with English singer/song-writer Ed Sheeran. The two came together for the single “Rewind, Repeat It,” which Garrix debuted at the 2015 Ultra Music Festival. Although it seemed like an unlikely collaboration, the results were nothing but success.
Watch the interview below to hear Garrix talk about the challenges with the collaboration and how they overcame them:
“Rewind, Repeat It” marries Garrix’s big room, progressive house sound with Sheeran’s distinct, heartfelt vocals. Sheeran received his big break after catching the attention of Elton John and Jamie Foxx with an extended play he released independently in 2011. Within a year, the English singer/songwriter signed to Asylum Records and released his debut album which went certified 6x Platinum in the Uk with hit singles "The A Team" and "Lego House"
This was Sheeran's first foray into the world of electronic dance music. Let's hope it's not his last. Listen to a rip from Martin Garrix’s Ultra Music Festival 2015 set below:
